Connect Jira ›or say “connect my Jira” to @HandyvaBot

Before you start

  • A Business plan
  • A Jira Cloud site (yourteam.atlassian.net) you can sign in to

Steps

Connecting Jira on handyva.com
What connecting Jira looks like on Handyva
  1. Open your API tokens

Go to id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens and sign in.

  2. Create a token

Click Create API token (the classic option, not “with scopes”), name it Handyva and choose an expiry date, up to a year.

  3. Copy it

Copy the token. Atlassian won't show it again.

  4. Paste it on handyva.com

Go to handyva.com/connect/jira (or open Jira from the dashboard's Connections page) and paste the details into the form. Never paste keys into the Telegram chat; Handyva will tell you to change them if you do.

Enter your site (for example yourteam.atlassian.net), the email you sign in with, and the token.

  5. All set

You're sent back to handyva.com and Handyva confirms in Telegram that Jira is connected. Try asking it something straight away.

What Handyva can access

  • See the projects and issues your Jira user can see
  • Create issues and add comments you've approved

Handyva only uses this access to do what you ask, never shares it, and always shows you messages, replies and posts before they go out.

Disconnect

In Handyva: dashboard → Connections → Disconnect, or tell the bot “disconnect my account”. On the platform: id.atlassian.com → Security → API tokens → Handyva → Revoke.

Troubleshooting

Handyva says the details were rejected

Check the site address, use your Atlassian sign-in email, and make sure you created a classic API token.

It stopped working

API tokens expire on the date you chose. Create a new one and paste it again.

Questions

Does Handyva get more access than me?

No. The token acts as your user, so Handyva sees exactly what you can see.
